
The Senate has failed for the fifth time to cross spending measures wanted to reopen the federal government. Each Democratic and Republican proposals had been rejected, falling in need of the 60-vote threshold. In the meantime, Donald Trump reiterated threats of mass layoffs if the deadlock continues, as hundreds of federal workers stay furloughed or working with out pay.
